Puchi Puchi

Puchi Puchi is the Japanese onomatopoeic word to describe the sound of bubbles popping. It was launched in Japan in September 2007 and sold an astounding 1 million pieces within 2 months of going on sale – that’s over 16,500 units A DAY!

The latest craze from Bandai those bubbletastic Japanese – an electronic bubble packaging popping simulator! Developed in conjunction with Japan's biggest bubble wrap manufacturer (Kawakami Industries), the Bubble wrap Keychain features eight rubbery 'bubble' buttons that activate a realistic popping sound when pressed. But here's the really good bit: every 100th pop is not a pop but a random sound: a boing, a rude noise, a yell, whatever. Of course this makes the whole lark hideously addictive, as you'll be frantically popping buttons in order to hear the next daft sound. Help!

InThere are some things in life that you just can't stop yourself from doing, and popping the bubbles on a sheet of bubble wrap is most definitely one of them. It's nigh on impossible to pass even the smallest scrap of bubble wrap and not want to grab it and squeeze those little bubbles until they make that deeply satisfying 'POP' noise. This compelling, if not addictive, pastime used to be restricted to the stationery cupboard at work, when you moved house, or when you received something in the post. Now Bandai has come up with an electronic version that fits on your key ring. It's the bubble wrap that never runs out of bubble. Every time you press one of the electronic bubbles, it makes a satisfying popping noise. As an added quirk, after a hundred 'pops' a random noise will replace the popping sound, we've heard a dog's bark - honestly! Ridiculous, but just you try putting it down. Puchi Puchi allows you to pop bubbles for the rest of your life (or as long as the batteries last!) safe in the knowledge that no plastic has been harmed. As featured on breakfast TV and TV supremo Jonathan Ross is said to be a huge fan, see Jonathan Ross with his own Puchi Puchi...on you tube.
